In a town where trouble is infrequent, how is a bulletin board used? To advertise quests, or simply as a party inviter?
The Quest Board is a stylized handpainted 3D-diorama, my second Portfolio Piece made at The Game Assembly. It was made to be a cozy and vibrant but also balanced scene, blocked out in Blender, textured in Substance Painter, and rendered in Marmoset Toolbag. The lowpoly mesh leaves a lot of room for the texture to tell the story!
I wanted this mini diorama to have a story and feel important. I focused on making it readable despite a lot of different hues and values, and also not making it feel too cluttered. As a personal fan of greenery and environments that feel soft and kind, I decided to lean this into being an area that's just maintained enough to have seen love and time, while still being used.
This portfolio piece was made to convey handpainted material definiton, understanding of light, values and hues, composition, and design.
